As I mentioned in a previous post I've selected Google Drawings to layout my site plan which I'll take to my meeting with the City Planner.
To begin I needed to determine my property's boundaries and lot dimensions before drawing a site plan. Fortunately, the Office Of The Assessor, Santa Clara County provides a real property search that delivers that information in the form of a tract map. All you have to do is type in your home address which will take you to a property information page. From there you can Print Assessor's Parcel Map.
Here's my Assessor's Parcel Map:
Assessor’s maps are regularly updated maps drawn to scale and based on the latest recorded surveys and plats of the area, and they will usually include lot dimensions for all sides of your property. The lot dimension information found on the Assessor’s map should allow you to correctly draw the property dimensions on your site plan, but it doesn't include the location of buildings, driveways, etc.
To help us out, here's an example of a site plan provided by the City.
As you can see, nothing too complicated but I do have to walk my property with a tape measure, pencil, and paper to get all the correct measurements and remember to, "Measure Twice And Cut Once."
So off I go!
